It’s hard to believe there was a time when a computer was a luxury. Today, many of us wouldn’t be able to work, relax or manage our day without our trusty laptop. Computers are still an expense, though, so it’s likely you want to make sure yours lasts as long as possible. Here are some tips to keep your computer performing optimally.
Keep It Clean
A computer may feel like a piece of furniture, but it’s a delicate piece of equipment. There are parts inside that need to be treated with utmost care. Allowing dirt and dust to permeate into your computer is a sure way to gum up the works, slow it down and shorten its life. Keep that computer as clean as possible.
Keep It Cool
Computers also work very hard, and that means they generate a tremendous amount of heat. There are fans inside that keep it cool, but you don’t want to put any more stress on those than you have to. You don’t have to do your computing in a meat locker, but don’t subject your computer to temperatures any hotter than you have to.
Keep Your Antivirus and Antispyware up to Date
Viruses, spyware and other malware can get into your computer and gobble up your processing speed. New viruses and malware are appearing all the time, so be sure to install antivirus software on your computer that is constantly looking for new updates to fight off the newest bugs.
